Geely-backed Polestar sold 613 EVs in Sweden last month, according to data from the Swedish Mobility Association released on Monday.
The figures showed a 39% jump year over year and a 14.6% increase from the 535 electric vehicles recorded in April.
In the first five months of the year, the Gothenburg-based brand has sold 2,605 vehicles in the country. Polestar has sold an average of 521 units per month since the beginning of 2025.
The Polestar 4 represented 380 out of the 613 vehicles sold by the brand last month.
The coupe SUV’s prices start at 700,000 SEK ($73,000) and the brand is offering a discount of 8,000 SEK. A trim named ‘Business Edition’ is also available, starting at the same base price.
The Polestar 2 sedan, which was originally listed at 599,000 SEK ($62,500), is available from 579,000 SEK ($60,400) on the company’s Swedish website. It accounted for 152 units.
The brand sold 48 units of its most expensive model, the Polestar 3 SUV. Prices begin at 890,000 SEK, which is equivalent to $92,800.
Polestar currently operates in 27 markets globally and reaffirmed in May its intention to enter the French market “this summer” using “several existing partners from the Volvo network.”
The brand plans to grow its European retail footprint to more than 180 locations by 2027.
The brand is then followed by premium brand Zeekr. The brand, also backed by China’s Geely Holding Group, sold 119 vehicles last month, a 88.9% surge year over year.
Its competitor Nio sold 2 units in Sweden last month, same as April and down from the 18 vehicles registered in May 2024.
XPeng sold 106 vehicles in the Scandinavian market, while BYD‘s sales jumped 52% year over year to 76 hybrid and fully electric vehicles last month.
In May, 25,675 vehicles were sold in Sweden, with battery electric vehicles making up 9,469 of those — capturing 36.9% of the market.
Hybrid vehicles, including plug-in hybrid models, closely followed with 9,457 units sold, accounting for 33.9%.
The country’s two best-selling models were Volvo‘s plug-in hybrid XC60 and fully electric EX40, with 1,580 and 1,218 units registered, respectively.
