Data from Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) showed on Tuesday that Polestar sold 670 vehicles in July, a new record for the brand in Germany since August 2023, when it had registered 754 vehicles.
In June, the company led by Michael Lohscheller registered 517 vehicles.
Compared to last month, sales rose by 29.6%. Year over year, the company registered a sales jump of 58.8% in Europe’s largest auto market.
Polestar‘s three-vehicle lineup is fully available in Germany, with Polestar 2 sedan’s prices starting at €48,990 ($57,400).
In Germany, the brand currently offers a €4,000 bonus (about $4,500) and 0.0% financing for all new or inventory orders of its Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs.
Both discounts were previously available until June 30 — and now have been extended until the end of the third quarter.
The Polestar 3 is priced from €74,590 ($87,400) and the Polestar 4 begins at €57,900 ($900) after the deduction.
Polestar appointed on Tuesday a new country chief for Germany, a day after revealing it became the official mobility partner of the German football club Borussia Dortmund for the next three seasons.
“Polestar is supplying a fleet of 60 vehicles to the club, which are already used at the team’s training camp in Austria this week,” Borussia Dortmund said in a statement. “In the future, the vehicles will be driven by the team, management, and club representatives.”
Jan Grindemann was the former chief of Corvette’s European business (since early this year) and BYD Germany (2024) as part of the partner Hedin Mobility Group.
Grindemann replaces Willem Baudewijns, who took on the role of Managing Director of Polestar Germany, while simultaneously holding the same position at Polestar Netherlands.
Baudewijns will now focus on leading the Dutch market.
Polestar sold 179 vehicles in the Dutch market last month, a 68.9% jump year over year from 106 units, despite a sequential decline of 58.8%.
In Sweden, where the company is headquartered, Polestar registered 538 vehicles last month — nearly half of June sales, as auto figures usually see a sequential drop from June to July.
The same was seen in the UK, where the brand’s registrations were in line with the same period a year ago, but down 60% from June.
Last month, 264,802 vehicles were sold in Germany. Among these, battery electric vehicles (BEV) accounted for 48,614 units, representing a 18.4% market share.
Sales of fully electric vehicles surged 58% year over year in July.
When it came to new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, Tesla sold 1,110 vehicles, while BYD, which sells both hybrid and fully electric models, registered 1,126 units.
XPeng listed 266 vehicles in the German market last month, while premium brand Nio sold 47 EVs last month — its highest monthly figures since April 2024.
