Polestar announced on Thursday that Plug & Charge is now available at over 28,000 charging stations in Europe and that it has integrated Tesla Superchargers into its Polestar Charge app, connecting drivers to over one million charging points across the region.
The platform represents one of the largest charging networks in Europe.
Geely-backed EV maker’s Head of Product Software Management Olivier Loedel highlighted the improvements to the premium EV maker’s charging ecosystem:
“By expanding Plug & Charge and fully integrating Tesla Superchargers, we’re improving our premium seamless charging experience even further,” the executive stated.
The Plug & Charge feature — included in the app as complimentary — enables direct communication between the electric vehicle (EV) and the charger, while also allowing for the payment to be processed directly.
By integrating Tesla Superchargers into its own app, the carmaker has provided users access to over 20,000 of the US giant’s charging stations across more than 1,500 European locations.
Polestar drivers can see real-time Tesla Supercharger availability directly in the in-car Google Maps navigation, allowing for optimized route planning.
With the new addition, the Polestar Charge app — available in all of the brand’s markets in Europe except Portugal — now includes a total of six major regional operators: IONITY, Recharge, TotalEnergies, Fastned, Allego and Tesla Superchargers.
Local providers in each market, which “enable the best possible public charging offer to local users,” are also present on the platform, according to the company.
Thanks to the Polestar Charge subscription offer, users can receive discounts on fast charging at more than 80,000 charging stations, across 42 charge operators.
The service is currently available to Polestar customers in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
The automaker highlighted that its app gained more than 45,000 users last year, representing a 30% jump from 2024.
January Sales in Europe
Present in a total of 28 markets globally, Polestar is currently operating in 16 European countries, with France being the latest addition.
The UK delivered Polestar’s strongest European results last month, with 1,070 registrations.
According to data released by Thursday by the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT), sales in the country surged 43.4% compared to January 2025, when the company listed 746 units.
Last month marked the automaker’s 13th consecutive month of year-on-year increase.
In Germany — Europe’s largest automotive market —, Polestar sold 532 vehicles last month, more than doubling (126.4%) from a year ago.
As a result, last January became the fourth-strongest month in the last two years in the country for the brand.
Sweden registered 450 Polestar vehicles, the third-strongest result for the company in the market, though sales declined 5% year-over-year.
In neighboring Norway — which has the highest EV adoption in the world — Polestar saw its sales slump by 66.7% to 63 units from the 189 recorded a year ago.
The premium EV maker entered the French market last June and it recorded 46 registrations in January.
The country’s sales fell 50.5% from the 93 units sold last December, which is typically the month with the highest sales in the year.
