Canoo Van Rentals from Kingbee Delayed Again, Now Expected in 2025

Kingbee, the short-term van rental company, announced a partnership with electric van maker Canoo two years ago, with plans to offer short-term leases on 9,300 commercial EVs.

Despite receiving the first units from the order in January 2024, Kingbee has yet to make the Canoo vehicles available for rent.

Initially, Kingbee stated in June 2023 that the retrofitted Canoo vehicles would begin shipping by September 2023. However, the company now expects the EVs to be available by early 2025—nearly 18 months later than the original timeline.

“We’ve been informed that our Canoo vehicles should be available early 2025,” Kingbee stated on its official website.

When the first deliveries were announced last January, neither Kingbee nor Canoo disclosed how many units had been handed over.

Kingbee customizes, wraps, and delivers Canoo vehicles as work-ready fleet solutions for companies across the United States.

According to an email from Canoo’s Manager of Sales Operations, the company has started shipping its LDV 130 model priced at “approximately $45,000”.

Canoo secured an additional $2.66 million in funding from YA II PN Ltd., a unit of Yorkville Advisors, a new 8k filing revealed last week. The funding was secured under a supplemental agreement to its existing Prepaid Advance Agreement (PPA).

The company has recently withdrawn its guidance for revenue, manufacturing run rates, as well as the production and delivery of vehicles for 2024 and subsequent periods.
