Chinese automaker BYD said on Sunday it sold 504,003 passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) in November, marking the second consecutive month of selling over half a million units.

Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) reached 198,065 units, up 4.46% sequentially, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) accounted for 305,938 units, a slight decline of 1.60% month-on-month. Passenger NEVs, which include BEVs and PHEVs, surged 67.23% year-on-year to 504,003 units, up 0.69% from October.

BYD’s November performance brought its total passenger vehicle sales for the first eleven months of the year to over 3.74 million units, surpassing the company’s official annual target of 3.6 million vehicles. BYD had previously denied reports in September that it raised its target to 4 million units.

The automaker’s global expansion strategy also gained traction, with 30,977 passenger vehicles sold outside China in November, including 28,141 units exported.
