Electric vehicle Polestar announced in late August its Design Chief Maximilian Missoni was leaving the company to “take up a new role outside of Polestar.” On Friday, BMW announced Missoni amid a major restructuring of its design team led by Adrian van Hooydonk.

The former Volvo and Polestar designer will be leading BMW’s upper mid-range, luxury class and BMW Alpina, the company said in a statement.

Missoni had joined the Geely-backed brand in mid July after spending nearly nine years at Volvo Cars where he worked with the — now former — Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath and became Vice President of Exterior Design in 2014.

Anders Warming, former Head of Rolls-Royce Design, will manage all Advanced Design topics and BMW Group Designworks. Holger Hampf, current Head of BMW Group Designworks, will take charge of MINI Design.
